The Effect of Continuous Low-Intensity Exposure to Electromagnetic Fields from Radio Base Stations to Cancer Mortality in Brazil

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background: this study aims to estimate the rate of death by cancer as a result Radio Base Station (RBS) radiofrequency exposure, especially for breast, cervix, lung, and esophagus cancers. Methods: we collected information on number deaths cancer, gender, age group, gross domestic product per capita, year, amount exposure over lifetime. We investigated all types some specific (breast, cancers). Results: in capitals where RBS was higher than 2000/antennas-year, average mortality 112/100,000 The adjusted analysis showed that, radiofrequency, was. highest risk observed cervix (rate ratio = 2.18). spatial that city southern Brazil also specifically lung breast cancer. Conclusion: balance our results indicates electromagnetic fields from increases

Time Averaged Transmitter Power and Exposure to Electromagnetic Fields from Mobile Phone Base Stations

Models for exposure assessment of high frequency electromagnetic fields from mobile phone base stations need the technical data of the base stations as input. One of these parameters, the Equivalent Radiated Power (ERP), is a time-varying quantity, depending on communication traffic. In order to determine temporal averages of the exposure, corresponding averages of the ERP have to be available....

Effect of occupational exposure to extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields on level of thyroid hormones effective on fatigue

Background: The aim of this study was to assess exposure to extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields (ELF-EMFs) and its effects on secretion of thyroid hormones associated with symptoms of fatigue on electric arc welding workers. Methods: This study was carried out on two groups including 35 welders (as exposed) and 35 non-welders (as control). Extremely low frequency electromagnetic fie...

Conversion from mono-axial to isotropic measurements for assessing human exposure to electromagnetic fields of GSM/DCS/UMTS base stations

This paper proposes a way to assess total electric field strength by using mono-axial probe (instead of isotropic, tri-axial probe). When mono-axial probe is used, additional conversion factor should be applied. Consequently, the usage of mono-axial probe causes additional uncertainty in measurement results that should be taken into account. Measurement results for seven different environments ...
